Here’s a reminder list of 14 of the top reasons to exercise, whether it’s at the barre or elsewhere. Numbers 13 and 14 get us pumped! The good news is, a lot of these are not a secret anymore. You can find variations of these everywhere. So pull out this list and read it when you need a reminder of why exactly what you do is worth your precious time…

1. To Ward off Disease
Exercise has been proven to reduce the risk of just about every single health problem known to man, from stroke to heart disease to cancer and osteoporosis. Exercise is also a great defense against type 2 diabetes, which is one of the most widely growing diseases of our time.

2. To Look and Feel Fabulous
Exercise firms your body, balances your body composition, improves posture and even makes your skin glow.

3. To Lose Fat and Keep It Off
Exercise burns fat and prevents future fat storage. If you want to have a leaner, healthier body, exercise is the answer.

4. To Gain Energy
Anyone who exercises regularly will tell you that they are more energetic, less easily irritated and are more peaceful.

5. To Sleep Better
Exercise boosts energy levels, but also wears you out.

6. To Slow the appearance of Aging
You’re going to get older. This is a GOOD thing. But exercise is one of the most effective ways to fight the appearance of aging. When you age your body could lose muscle and bone density, but the loss of both are drastically reduced with regular exercise.

7. To Relieve Back Pain
In most cases, the best thing that you can do for back pain is to move and strengthen those muscles and improve your posture- and you know we won’t let bad posture slip in a Passion Barre class. Consult your physician or physical therapist for guidance.

8. To Ease Depression
Exercise has been proven to reduce depression. Just chalk this up as yet another amazing benefit to exercise. And remember those thoughts we share on the floor? Show up to learn what to do with toxic thoughts!

9. To Reduce Aches and Pains
By strengthening muscles around damaged joints you’re able to use exercise to reduce joint pain and overall aches.

10. To Sharpen your Brain
Exercise has been shown to improve memory and other cognitive functions, and seems to have a protective effect against dementia. A Harvard University researcher called exercise “Miracle-Gro for the brain.”

11. To Reduce Sick Days
People who exercise regularly are 50% less likely to call in sick to work.

12. To Boost Confidence
Being fit, feeling healthy and having energy are all building blocks to having great confidence.

13. To Enjoy Your Lifestyle and Fulfill Destiny
Whatever your passion is in life – your family, travel, sports, work, fashion—it is all more enjoyable when experienced in a fit and healthy body.

14. Particularly at Passion Barre and Karingah – to Stimulate Freedom
Regular exercise gives you so many amazing benefits, as you’ve seen from the above list. And how much more a Passion Barre class designed exclusively to lift the booty; firm up the abs; define the arms and thighs; and strengthen the heart and mind?
All this while making life changing connections with other great ambassadors like yourself; and making your freedom and attendance count toward the rescue of women and children from sex slavery/human trafficking. This just lights our fire!

If you’re an ambassador and you’ve been meaning to introduce a family member or friend to your fav. Passion Barre studio, now’s the time to do it 🙂

So our ladies at Passion Barre won’t be second (I’m usually the first, haha) to hear this during our “Inspire” part of class. I couldn’t wait: I heard a man talk about changing your story to an empowering one, and I could barely finish listening to his sentence while these thoughts hit me.

There’s a story that plays in our minds. And for many, that’s really all it is. A story. But we’ve learned that whatever plays in our minds (our thoughts) is what we live out or find manifested to us.
The circumstances that lead to these stories are usually strong with great impression – especially the ones that our major influencers have lived out in front of us; or those proven to us by a scientific or doctor’s report.

But even during a barre workout this concept is played out in it’s simplicity. It’s delightful to propose a new move while many of my students whine under the assumption that they can’t do it – until they do (try), only to discover that they could. It’s the story that every instructor has magic kinesthetic powers and is so far removed from the realities of the average student. Hahaha.

But seriously, these stories develop over a long period of time too, and they become our identity. You hear it rehearsed often: “when I was young”… “well you know once you hit this age, you’re stuck”. But what if there’s something so amazing and stable about that age that gives the added advantage of stability and wisdom that we’re failing to focus on? What if the things that don’t lift and move like before have more to do with the lifestyle that led to that age rather than just a ticking clock?

So, what’s your story? Do you like it?

I remember, with a particular context in my life, I had a great story modeled in front of me. It should’ve been relatively easy for me to make that story mine. And it was until one with an impressive personality but no truthful productivity convinced me over time that my story had to change (the power of influence). So I changed it without knowing… And I did not like what it produced in me, neither did it make me more acceptable to my new storyteller. I fell shorter and shorter of the part I was being asked to play. But thanks to a loving influence with great productivity. I re-wrote the story, and made it better. Thankfully, it’s been productive.
So anyone, seemingly from the top, bottom, or in-between has a story, and they can rewrite it as many times as they need to see the right kind of fruit in their lives. It happens all the time.

What’s your new story?

Human Trafficking Awareness Barre-a-thon

Human Trafficking/Modern Day Slavery is an issue that you might have started to hear about. But more than just a buzz, the shocking reality is that there are estimated to be 27 million in the world who have been forced into labor and sex. This is an estimated 32 billion dollar industry, and the average price of acquiring a slave is $90!

We are passionate about Freedom and Inspiration at Passion Barre and Karingah; and we believe that:

Freedom has often come, and can only come, as a result of the free becoming distressed by the captivity of the enslaved.

Individual freedom is still being threatened, and we want to raise louder voices this month with other abolitionists worldwide.

Many thanks again to all who came on Saturday, January 24, 2015 for a free community barre class during the first ever Barre-a-thon for human trafficking awareness month. Your presence made it impactful and we got to learn so much with conviction. Thank you for filling up the classes and going above and beyond the suggested class donation. Thanks to all who shared 24 cards and held 7 conversations with their communities about the Barre-a-thon as well. And thanks to all who committed to attending 24 times in these 7 weeks!

Here’s to your health, and their freedom!

In the meantime, if you missed the Barre-a-thon event, you can still donate!

Please click here to read our story and give; or drop off your cash or check donation at our Terra Vista location:
10582 Foothill Blvd., Suite 120
Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730
We’re located at the Joy Fountain Courtyard between Target and Hobby Lobby.

Proceeds from our Barre-a-thon and overall Fight for Freedom 24/7 Giving Challenge go directly to empower our partners’ work in rescuing women and children from slavery. So to Give freedom, Just show up 🙂

This time, we’re focusing our giving efforts on projects by A21 Campaign and The Exodus Road through our partner, Pearl Alliance.

Also, if you’ve never heard of Human Trafficking; or you have heard, but didn’t think it was possible to make a difference; please reflect on this short clip on top 10 human trafficking facts and how you can help end slavery in twenty five years!
