As women, we desire a longer, leaner form through a fun, life transforming workout that won’t leave us feeling bulky, banged up or uninspired. We thrive through meaningful support, joy and inspiration – being treated like a work of art. As nurturers by instinct, we also find a deeper value in things that matter. Things like passion, health, freedom and rescue, for instance…

This is what you can expect from us, and if this sounds like you, you’re in good company! A part of my philosophy lies in meeting people where they are, and going together to meet others where they are. Supportive of each other, yet uniquely diverse, our clients (tribe) add to an atmosphere charged with their own unique presence gifted with genuine support and camaraderie – celebrating each other’s lives.

Each one is committed to challenging her own growth, driven by potential and destiny – and leaving out the jockish competitiveness that often makes relationships cringe. New friendships have budded, old friendships have been strengthened. Milestones have been reached, while new ones have been set… Their results, stories and commitment will inspire you in the same for you and others in the community. So, just show up. That’s half the battle 🙂

HERE ARE A FEW SHOUT OUTS FROM CLIENTS I’VE SERVED

Wow, wow, whoaman!

This week I got to speak to the “woman”. This past week I missed a couple of calls from the same number on the same day. The call ID came with no details whatsoever and that usually…

There is answer for every problem. Yes, there is. I say the answer is basically the positive outcome we desire.

See what we often think of as the “answer,” however, is the “how” of getting the answer. The solution to it. You know, the problem solving part. The “if x plus 12 equals 5, then find x” part. And because we don’t always know the how or the formula we say we don’t have the answer. And when we don’t know the solution, we stare at and stay focused on the problem, ruminating. We forget that what we focus on grows.
Think again with me here. What if we focused on the answer we want?
Marilyn Hickey said “we’ve rehearsed the problems long enough. Time to rehearse the promises.”
What if solutions are attracted to answers rather than problems? What if solutions only develop after the “answer” has been meditated on and declared? Yes, that’s it.

Start focusing on and declaring your answers. It’s your promise, the desires of your heart, your hope, and your dreams. If for anything so you can change your state in an instant and improve your mood. Because it is still impossible to feel bad, while meditating on good things.

Freedom is Here!

Happy Independence Day, America! May your borders continue to ring true with freedom – spirit, soul and body! As one! 🙂

I had yet another inspiring conversation at Passion Barre today with a comrade in the wellness community from Elements Massage. As she shared the riveting story of her lease on life, which brought us both to tears of gratitude – she helped me catch on to her phrase, “I get to.”

Having gone beyond “I can’t or I don’t want to,” she says, and I paraphrase, ‘everyday I get up, walk, work, care for my family or help people (fill in the gaps with what you do), I don’t just think “I can” now. I know that “I get to.”‘

Now, a new lease on life for you doesn’t have to be a dramatic occurrence. I know it was for me. But our new lease on life can be the commonly clichéd every morning along with the brand new mercies that accompany it. Many things remain clichéd solely by mundane attitudes. But when accompanied by the valuable “I get to” mindset as we choose to “think again” or shift our perspective, this produces astronomical results! Families, work places and societies would benefit greatly from you while you continue to help them experience creative transformation.

Knowing that our community will continue to benefit greatly being served by her, our conversation served as affirmation for me as well. I get to speak, train, coach, and write to you and all our tribe. I get to dance, I get to create. I even get to sell (we won’t get into the topic of how yours truly as an entrepreneur thought she hated selling before). I get to be who I am and do what I do.

And so do you.

Even when you exercise, walk, run, hike, or simply show up at the Barre in the fight for freedom, you “get to.”

Life is an opportunity, and “I get to” thinking is what enables us to live above and beyond.

Our newest client and I had a powerful conversation after our barre and stretch workout this morning. It reminded me of the constant privilege we have to speak life and help over-write defeating patterns of thinking in our community. This week I find myself speaking on senses thus far. For instance, earlier in the week we’ve discussed that:

“It’s impossible to do what you’ve never seen before… that’s why you dream”

And as usual, I do love a good play on words, so with our discussion today, here goes:

“Your h(ear)t was created for encouragement. Did you see that? Protect what you h(ear). Guard your h(ear)t. Look for good news. Let it in.”

I was inspired, listening to Keith Cameron Smith a few years ago, who obviously enjoys a good game of words himself. Our exercise involved dropping the first and last letter of each of these words: mind, heart and mouth – so that you understand the importance of what goes “in” your m(in)d; that what goes in your “ear” pulls the strings of your h(ear)t; and that what comes “out” of your m(out)h contains power for life or death!

The difference between you conquering in life or feeling defeated may very much lie in these truths.

So pertaining to those times when we feel discouraged or stuck. Take note of what you may have been listening to or thinking. It’s impossible to feel empowered if you give your attention to negative news, mediocre news or even no news. That’s right. Your gift, your call, your mission, your family, your career, your daily life and even your health and fitness goals need your heart encouraged in order to continue with passion and to finish strong. Make no mistake about it – there is a way 🙂

So be intentional, make your ear a magnet for good news and encouraging reports. Go and look for it. Surround yourself with it. Don’t worry about the masses. One is enough to create positive change. Two is even better. So share with a friend – encouragement, that is. And this post too, if you please.

We can’t emphasize this enough at Passion Barre: Feelings are great! They help us experience life. They are however, subject to you – not the other way round. They follow the strongest stimulant. So what do you do when feelings want to take over? You “think again!”
Like Joyce Meyer says, “it’s impossible to feel bad while thinking good thoughts, and it’s impossible to feel good while dwelling on negative or defeating thoughts.”
So to change the way you feel, simply choose a life giving thought: Change your mind (:
And then of course open your mouth (words of life drown out toxic thoughts).

Always remember, YOU are in charge of your state.

It’s not about the burn, it’s not about the bikini. It’s about a great place for women to BE…”

Jhonette

I had this great conversation with a guest ambassador (client) after Passion Barre class a couple of Mondays ago. We are thankful for the free world (as we insist on calling it that). People should be free to do whatever they want… But is it freedom if it enslaves another? It might be a touchy subject, speaking on social accountability. But during the Barre-a-thon for human trafficking awareness month, we did so because we have a community that cares enough to be uncomfortable.

We spoke of being aware of our surroundings with all there is to notice if people actually paid attention and concern. We even spoke on parenting both ours and other’s children, and bringing back the “it takes a village” mentality. With runaway youth being at a high risk of being trafficked in the United States, we encouraged families to allow their youth to be vulnerable with them so they didn’t have to be vulnerable outside. We talked about getting in their business and social media life, and not being afraid of not being “their friend” temporarily. I know, hard balance to keep, but possible, with love. And how about offering accountability to those who are old enough to do whatever they want? Because they account for much of the market that victimizes the trafficked.

During my interview with one of the investigators with the Exodus Road in SE Asia, the investigator shared that a primary way to prevent trafficking involved reweaving the moral fiber of the society. I nodded emphatically! You see, during the eighteenth century when English abolitionist William Wilberforce sought to abolish slavery, he had to start with reform – by restoring public manners and by influencing people to see how wrong and inhumane slavery was. Apparently it had been so engrained in society, people weren’t moved about it. As we say, freedom has often come, and can only come, as a result of the free becoming distressed by the captivity of the enslaved- and doing something about it. From there, they were then able to combat slavery. But the common form of slavery then was obvious. Today it’s a little hidden because it’s so much in our faces.

There is a freedom that enslaves. But then it’s not freedom at all. It’s licentiousness. It’s the type that says “I’m old enough to do what I want and what I feel; I’m a responsible adult; we’re consenting adults; no one would ever know; I shouldn’t have to answer to anyone; it’s harmless; it’s necessary; anyone who opposes me is just a religious freak; and why should I feel bad about this?” Or it’s the type that says “It’s not my business; I don’t want to seem judgmental.” It’s the type that engages or does not discourage cheap labor, pornography, prostitution, terrorism and so on – not realizing how often these behaviors are serviced by forced victims. The type is a person, and a behavior. They are the market, they create the industry. The $32 Billion industry. After all, you cannot sell what people won’t buy.

The purpose of moral standards isn’t to prove we’re better than anyone. It’s to protect one’s self and others, whether one know how far it reaches or not. That’s why it’s called a standard.
