Pilates, the foundation of all our courses is considered the art of control – designed to improve health, strength, recovery and function. The system of exercises strengthen and tone the abdominal muscles because of their dominant role in controlling total body movement as part of the “Powerhouse,”- the core center muscles (abdominal, pelvic girdle, back and shoulder girdle). Enhancing clarity and the mind-body awareness connection; focus, breath, precision and flow are used to increase proper alignment of the spine, posture, balance, flexibility and endurance. These stretching and muscle toning exercises are usually carried out on the Pilates Mat sometimes with the use of small fitness aids.

So if you’re looking to recover or increase core strength, prevent spinal aging, prevent injuries and optimize daily physical functioning, then focus, flex and flow with us as you condition your body and thinking for strength!

CREATIVE DIRECTOR  | FITNESS ARTIST | COACH

‘Dami is a social entrepreneur and passionate freedom advocate (coaching on renewing the mind and fighting modern day slavery). She loves Jesus, she loves people, loves to coach, dance, act, sing, travel, design; and adores multiculture – but we must stop there. ‘Dami is ridiculously fascinated by water, easily amused, and lives to create.

She’s been a dancer and Performing Artist practically since she was in diapers; and has worked in the Design, Health and Wellness industries for eleven years. Missions, outreach and personal coaching have been a significant part of this journey.

‘Dami earned her BFA in Visual Communication with an Art History minor from the University of Oklahoma and started Tribal Marks and Karingah! after years as a designer in the corporate sector.

“I believe it’s a unique opportunity to showcase a trendy African style playing well with Passion Barre as a juxtaposition, along with other dance and fitness trends.

The heart of Karingah! is to reach out to inspire our clients toward total wellness, and in turn co-brand with them to bring freedom and joy to the lives of exploited children and women whose destinies are robbed or threatened by captivity” she says.

A part of our philosophy lies in meeting people where they are, and going together to meet others where they are. Our class style is “organic” in nature, filled with ambassadors we’re always so privileged to workout and fight for freedom with. Supportive of each other, yet uniquely diverse, we create an environment that demands health and authenticity, through joy and inspiration – breaking out of comfort zones, driven by potential and destiny; but leaving out the jockish competitiveness that often makes relationships cringe.

Again, we have a world to impact and we want to co-brand with you and the community through “FIT-FOR-FREE” to reach out and bring freedom to the captive. So, just show up. That’s half the battle.

You are the one giving substance to your world through words! – Annette Capps

When the weather is really cold, there are several things people have done over the ages to warm up. For the sake of this analogy we’ll assume in the United States that you can just turn up the heat on your thermostat. After a short while, you’ll start to warm up.

As I sat in my car in the Southern California heat waiting for an appointment, I had my air conditioner on full blast. Then out of concern for idling for too long, I turned it off and it amazed me how very quickly my car heated up and I started to burn up… um, air on please! But it reminded me of how cool (no pun intended) it is that once a certain type of energy is applied to an otherwise heated environment, one can change the temperature in his or her immediate environment. But once one neutralizes that energy, the temperature of the environment presides over him or her once again.

I heard it well put years ago by Jimmy Evans from Marriage Today, and our ambassadors will probably remember us talking about this in class. In a nutshell: there is dynamic energy, static energy and destructive energy. Static energy is really energy “unclaimed or unused” and can only remain static for a time. It will eventually be claimed by another energy force. The easiest one being destructive, because it’s easier to tear down than build up. Picture a neutral object like a pen lying flat on a table. As soon as the table is tilted or it’s legs are wobbly, will that pen go up, or go down?

Pastor Diego Mesa of Abundant Living Family Church also shared a good example in line with this thought: “Thermometers merely reflect the temperature in an environment, whereas thermostats regulate the temperature in the environment.”

So as you gear up to enjoy your summer, be a thermostat in a real sense. Set and regulate the temperature around you. Be deliberate and aware of your state and attitude, remembering that remaining neutral keeps you subject to the temperament of those around you. If they’re happy, the good thing could be that you might feel happier after being in their presence (we’d like to think that’s what you experience after a Passion Barre class :). BUT if they’re down, you might wonder why you’re feeling a low for no exact reason…

Wa-Wa…It’s what I’ve been calling water these days, haha. And since I volunteered to write the post today and can’t seem to come up with a catchier title, I’m going with it. So Tribe, It’s warming up outside and one thing you can’t forget to do is stay hydrated! How hydrated should you be daily? If you don’t know keep reading for a friendly hydration tip!

Lots of people don’t realize the true importance of drinking enough water everyday and how it can impact both your health, appearance (skin and hair) and your weight loss efforts. According to experts in a recent study, drinking just 2 cups of water, which is smaller than the size of a bottled soda, before meals helped dieters lose an extra five pounds yearly and help you maintain your weight loss. Additionally, drinking the right amount of water daily can actually speed up your metabolic rate and help to curb overeating when your body confused hunger and thirst. But how much water is enough?

Here is how: Get how much you weigh and divide by two and that number is how many ounces of water you should be drinking. Example: If you weigh 130 lbs. you should drink 65 ounces of water. If you want to to know how many cups, simply divide that half of your body weight by eight. 8 ounces = 1 cup. When we say cups it means cups like the measurement for cooking, not the bottles! For instance, a common dinner glass is usually 2 cups of water, or the regular 16.9oz. water bottles are about 2 cups of water. So, its really not that bad or as much water as it may seem.

Another Example: If you weigh 200 lbs. you should be drinking 12.5 cups of water. 200 divided by 2= 100. 100 divided by 8= 12.5 So stay hydrated in this heat and drink a more than the bare minimum! There are many life saving benefits to drinking the correct amount of water do NOT pass them up!
