You’ve gotten so much from the barre. Now if you’re looking for more time to to restore, relieve stress, or simply strengthen and relax –  we’re so excited to introduce the NEW Sàntú Stretch Class: develop your focus, flex and flow through a journey of stretching, assisted stretching, reflections and listening.

The word, “Santu”: {to inspire, awaken or revive} comes from the Nupe (pronounced noo-peh) language, one of my “native” tongues.  Though I never quite learned this particular language beyond basic greetings, I am fascinated by it. My Dad, who served the world in great capacity as a Linguist and Translations Consultant served his little girl (your’s truly) and Passion Barre in helping to find the perfect word and translation for this class 🙂
So with persistent demand and glowing feedback, join us for an official class starting Wednesdays at 5:30PM.
Also let us know of other available times you’d love to see this class featured. (Oh if only we could go all day and all-night and into your homes as some have requested, haha!)

With the use of stress-relief aids, stretch and relaxation sequences; and a gentle restorative Pilates method – this class will help release tension, increase core stability, good posture, balance, and recovery from/prevention of injuries to optimize daily physical functions.
Also experience transformation as you renew your mind by listening and over-writing wrong patterns of thinking to overcome limitations.
We’ve heard that the class favorites are “the talk” and assisted stretching back rubs, plus the after glow into the following day. We believe it’ll be the same for you.
Space is limited, and advance reservation is required.
P.S. If it’s been too long or you haven’t had a chance to try our Passion Barre classes yet, we’d love to host you in class. The sweet after burn has been spreading like a wildfire since we brought the barre to Rancho Cucamonga! Click here to reserve your trial class, still complimentary this month.
In Southern California, we serve Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Fontana, Ontario, Claremont, Montclair, Corona, Eastvale, Mira Loma, Riverside, Pomona and other surrounding cities. See you at the Barre 🙂

At Passion Barre and Karingah, we developed the Transformation Challenge as a MAJOR boost to long-term results! Former challenge winners and participants have mastered new habits, lost 5-7 inches on their waist line, 25 pounds in one challenge season, gotten a bill of better health from their doctor, and beaten depression.

Featuring team support, mind-setting, goal-setting, nutrition consulting, resources, accountability, prizes, and oh yeah, you’ve given us permission to get in your business (:

Alternatively you can opt to join the challenge through attendance only – 24 times in 7 weeks, or “Twice is Nice” (commit to twice a week for those 7 weeks). Showing up IS half the battle.

So, the more you show up, the more you see results; the more is given and more captives get set free.

Prizes vary per challenge season, but oh yes, pampering is involved!

$25 commitment fee with regular Passion Barre by Karingah! class package or lifestyle membership.

Did I hear you say bring it on? Click here to sign up.

5 Reasons why taking a Passion Barre class could change your life (and why Tony Robbins might agree)

Fan or no fan, I always appreciate quick summaries of empowerment that we can share at the Barre! Here is a recap of a 2-minute video below on Tony Robbins’ 5 keys to changing your life/break through stress and how we see it tied in to the Passion Barre Experience (:

1. Feed your mind “the quality of your life is in where you live emotionally”
So take about 30 minutes to feed your mind (some healthy, life giving, sharpening encouragement every day). “Weeds grow automatically…” But the laws of sowing and reaping work with intention.
Experience inspiration during Passion Barre’s cool down and stretch as you are taught to Reflect, Think Again and Be Free. These powerful nuggets will help you understand and experience how transformation comes from renewing the mind.

2. Strengthen your body “It changes your biochemistry!”
You deliver the message that something has lifted and changed when you move, and then your body releases happy chemicals that deliver the same message back to you. It’s the way you were magnificently designed!
So, go for a power walk or run, or enjoy some dance inspired sweat and burn at the Passion Barre with supportive people that’ll leave you longer, leaner, and stronger.

3. Commit to something bigger than yourself.
This might seem easier in the society we live in, but real impact requires creativity and commitment!
Many women often neglect their needs for the needs of others and feel guilty when they do something for themselves. This guilt is still unproductive.
We are nurturers by nature, so, what if we didn’t have to give one up for the other?

With Passion Barre’s Fit-for-Free program, whether you have your faith, giving, sacrifices and activities, or you’re looking for “it”; every time you show up for class, your attendance is a “Freedom Point” which stimulates the rescue of a woman or child from human trafficking/modern day slavery. How awesome is it that your health and freedom offers freedom for another? The program is our way of keeping you motivated while raising awareness on the issue of captivity, and shining the spotlight on our amazing partners who do the reformative work of rescue in several communities in the United States and globally.

These last two are simply a matter of being in the right environment to get these, or to feed you the reminders:

4. Get a role model…
Because you mirror what you look at. Again, it’s simply the way your mind and brain were designed, therefore, what you focus on grows. Get the inspiration or accountability to help you set a goal, get a plan and take action. It’s always an honor for us to mentor and coach even outside of our Life Coaching and Lifestyle Plan members.

5. Take note of someone or something worse off than you or your situation, and get a new perspective.
There’s nothing like listening to a story about a sex trafficking victim or a major lack of good health to help reshape our attitude into one of gratitude… and hope.

While this article is somewhat of a shameless plug, haha, our student ambassadors will agree – it’s true. So why not share it and inspire some confidence in what you do. Go ahead, share it 🙂 And after that? All you have to do?

Just Show Up.

Erase, Start Over. …Now.

-Passion Barre

Laughter, that is. It simply is contagious, and one of my favorite things to at the barre during a workout 🙂
So we’d like to share a bit more on the power of what you’re experiencing and sharing when you laugh.

Humor is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. Laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. – www.helpguide.org

Many of us might be familiar with the quote from the book of Proverbs 17:22 that says “A merry (or joyful) heart does good like a medicine: but a broken spirit dries the bones” especially as we discover more on how literal this is.
And as much as we appreciate the truth about it, what many struggle with is how to get that merry heart. I mean who doesn’t want a merry, healthy heart, and strong body?

At Passion Barre and Karingah! we sometimes talk about laughing at all costs, even when you don’t feel like it. During a Barre workout class, for instance, we might say, in the middle of a burn, “smile, instead of grimacing… it’ll send stronger signals that something good is happening to your body, haha!”

And in a Karingah! class, during all the shaking and sweating, we call it the Shake and Laughter theory: Laughing naturally causes your body to shake; and shaking on purpose causes the silliness to make you laugh – especially with a bunch of people. So you can perk up your day or moment by laughing on purpose.

But seriously, what happens when you’re really feeling down or neutral? The presence of those feelings could make it really hard to make that switch. The good thing to remember is that switches (changing your state) are very possible, but first with a value statement and focus. How important is it for you to feel better, be healthier, flourish in your gifts, or be the leader in the room that can bring a life-giving change to others around you? Also remind yourself that feelings are followers. They follow the strongest influence at the time. Influence is created by thoughts, decisions and actions. Are you willing to lead, change your mind and take action by doing something as simple as focusing on a new thought and smiling?

Another quotation on laughter infrequently used in this present context is found in the book of Ecclesiastes 3:4 “[There is] A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance…”

All things being equal, this line is quite self-explanatory… except for those times when it seems like weeping and mourning could go on and on; or some situations present no hope. So you can decide that although it doesn’t seem like it, it a time to laugh instead. You can start with a smile 🙂

Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use. – www.helpguide.org

Do visit this page here for a list of benefits to your health when you laugh, and also a list of things to do, to trigger laughter.

And in the spirit of “sharing” and “like buttons,” go ahead and share good health, and laugh! it’s contagious.

The more you think about it, the more it grows. Choose your focus. What do you want to grow?

At some point ladies, we just have to get mad. Get mad that a wonderfully created, intricate, powerful being such as you is being controlled by a bag of chips (or whatever your “thing” is)!

Have you noticed that healthy eating does not control you with cravings? Oh but what about this cycle of the things that are not the best; but feel and taste too good; lure you into excess and then become your slave master!

However the things that help you live life well are usually steady, good and faithful, respecting your right to know when you’re hungry and choose what to eat.

So, time for renewed thoughts and action:

There’s is a reason war is loud – just the mere battle cry is enough to intimidate your opponent.

Pretend like you’re in a Disney movie if you want, but it’s time turn around, get loud, set your face and tell that thing: “you are presently an enemy to my fitness and wellness goals and you’re not the boss of me! I’m the one created to rule, not you! I might eat a healthier version of you every once in a while when I decide it’s okay to do so, but not today!!! I’m going to drink a glass of water instead!”

And walk away.

Say this instead:

A wise man, Keith Cameron Smith, in his book, The Top 10 Distinctions between Winners and Whiners once said, and I paraphrase: “Whiners ask disempowering questions; winners ask empowering questions”.

You can still be an overcomer even when you don’t have the answers. Just ask empowering questions (questions that assume there is a solution).
How am I ever going to get in shape? What can I do, that I would enjoy, that would help me get in shape?
Sigh.. I need to lose weight. I will enjoy losing weight.

And speaking of something you would enjoy, have you tried Barre yet? It’s a low impact workout that fuses Ballet conditioning and Pilates at the ballet barre – no dance experience needed 🙂 So try our Passion Barre class for a leaning, strengthening workout with tons of inspiration and solutions to help you rule in life.

Here are five of the best exercises we incorporate during a barre workout to keep those glutes in shape through the seasons. But first, a few important basic reminders  – to reduce any extra fat around the glutes, to put you in fat-burning mode, and for your overall health:

1. Reduce processed sugars and high sodium intake, then load up on real vegetables with some fruit instead

2. Hydrate daily by drinking (water) half of your body-weight in ounces. e.g. If you weigh 160 pounds, you would drink 80 ounces of water- that’s 10 measured cups (a cup is 8 ounces, and tall dinner glasses usually contain about two actual measured cups).
Infuse with some mint leaves, cucumber slices, a squeeze of lemon or splash of organic Apple Cider Vinegar to help you enjoy drinking water and detox while you’re at it.

3. Eat more protein. A lot of women, especially, may not get enough protein in their diet. If this is you, start with half of your weight in grams. e.g if you weighed 160 pounds, start by consuming 80 grams of protein daily.

Top Booty Exercise #1: PLIES IN SECOND

A Plie is a “bend” in Ballet terminology. We can’t get enough of it’s simplicity in our Passion Barre classes. This is the exercise to add definition and shape to your butt, and narrow your thighs. Start by standing with your legs slightly more than shoulder-width apart and your toes pointed out to the sides. This is a called “second position”. For balance, hold your arms in front of you. While keeping your back and torso upright and straight (no leaning over or poking of the booty backwards) slowly lower your bottom to the ground until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Hold this for five seconds and stand back up. Repeat 8 times.
Now repeat the whole sequence, but as you hold your plié, add tiny 1-inch range pulses up and down.

Top Booty Exercise #2: HIP LIFT (BRIDGE)

A great exercise to work your glute muscles is the hip lift. To do this exercise, lie on the floor with your back flat, knees bent, and feet resting on the ground. While keeping your arms at your sides on the floor, lift your bottom and lower back off of the floor. Hold for a few seconds, and then slowly lower yourself. Repeat. To work your muscles even more, lift a leg in the air when you raise your bottom off the ground. Lower yourself and then repeat, lifting the other leg.
Now repeat the whole sequence, but as you hold your bottom and lower back of the floor, add tiny pulsing lifts. Ooh yeah!

Top Booty Exercise #3: LEG LIFT

To do a leg lift, lie on your side and prop yourself up on your elbow. Raise your top leg slowly into the air, as high as you can, so your legs make a “V” shape. Hold for a few seconds, and then slowly lower your leg. Repeat 8 times, turn onto the other side, and lift the other leg.
Now repeat the whole sequence, and add 1-inch range pulses to your lifted leg.

Top Booty Exercise #4: LUNGE

An amazing exercise that targets the muscles of your butt, thighs, and hips is the lunge. Putting one foot out in front of the other, lower your body toward the ground, keeping your abdominals tight and your torso straight. Lower until the front knee is bent at 90 degrees and not extended past your toes. Stand back up and then extend the opposite leg and bend. Perform 8 repetitions. For an increased workout, hold dumbbells in each hand.
Repeat and try these with tiny pulses as well.

Top Booty Exercise #5: BANDED SHUFFLE

This is a great exercise to get your heart pumping and work your buns. To do this exercise, you’ll need an elastic sports band. Stand up straight with your legs hip-width apart and tie the band around your lower legs. Squat down until your thighs are parallel to the floor, your back is straight, and your abdominals are tight. While in this squatting position, take several steps to the left, then several to the right. You may need to use your arms for balance, but your butt muscles should feel a workout.

ALSO, DID YOU KNOW?:

Running or walking outside or on the treadmill are other great exercises that work your butt while giving you a cardio workout to burn fat at the same time. Make it your goal to exercise 30 to 45 minutes at least three times a week, including walking or running each time.

Burn, Baby, Burn! Remember to stretch after doing these. There are more where these came from, but these 5 exercises are excellent ways to burn extra fat off the booty while adding the definition you desire. Not used to working your gluteal muscles? You’ll definitely feel the burn the first few days, but the end result will be worth the effort!

The one and only way to reshape your body (and your booty) is with a combination of blast cardio exercises in a form you will enjoy, a healthy diet, and the right resistance workouts targeted for the butt and thighs like those offered in our Passion Barre and Karingah! classes.
