Wa-Wa…It’s what I’ve been calling water these days, haha. And since I volunteered to write the post today and can’t seem to come up with a catchier title, I’m going with it. So Tribe, It’s warming up outside and one thing you can’t forget to do is stay hydrated! How hydrated should you be daily? If you don’t know keep reading for a friendly hydration tip!
Lots of people don’t realize the true importance of drinking enough water everyday and how it can impact both your health, appearance (skin and hair) and your weight loss efforts. According to experts in a recent study, drinking just 2 cups of water, which is smaller than the size of a bottled soda, before meals helped dieters lose an extra five pounds yearly and help you maintain your weight loss. Additionally, drinking the right amount of water daily can actually speed up your metabolic rate and help to curb overeating when your body confused hunger and thirst. But how much water is enough?
Here is how: Get how much you weigh and divide by two and that number is how many ounces of water you should be drinking. Example: If you weigh 130 lbs. you should drink 65 ounces of water. If you want to to know how many cups, simply divide that half of your body weight by eight. 8 ounces = 1 cup. When we say cups it means cups like the measurement for cooking, not the bottles! For instance, a common dinner glass is usually 2 cups of water, or the regular 16.9oz. water bottles are about 2 cups of water. So, its really not that bad or as much water as it may seem.
Another Example: If you weigh 200 lbs. you should be drinking 12.5 cups of water. 200 divided by 2= 100. 100 divided by 8= 12.5 So stay hydrated in this heat and drink a more than the bare minimum! There are many life saving benefits to drinking the correct amount of water do NOT pass them up!

As we were discussing in our barre class, the only way to “not see it” from another perspective is if you’re in the dark.
And at that point, the object or the circumstance really isn’t the issue. The issue is the darkness.
See (no pun intended), everything reveals something a little different about itself when you choose to look at it a different way. Even a perfectly rounded ball, because of those really cool things called reflection, highlights and shadows… as long as there is light. And to see anything at all, you need light. But let’s trace back our steps a little bit.
Lately in class we’ve challenged eachother to look at “it” differently, and we dare you to do the same. For example:
Passion Barre Ambassador A has a family, including young children to look after. She might think “this is crazy, they cost so much; they’re so demanding and messy; and I can’t seem to catch a break. I don’t think I’ll ever have a life; what was I thinking getting myself into this?” etc
Passion Barre Ambassador B also has a similar situation, but she thinks “wow, there are a lot of things to juggle in life, but this is the life! They are a treasure, and I get to offer solutions, use my gifts and creativity and even when it seems insignificant, I am impacting real, valuable lives. Yes, I could really use some help with this mess, but I’m actually grateful for their noise and mess, because it means they’re alive, and they’re mine. Things COULD be worse, but change IS constant, so things COULD also get better” etc
Who is going to enjoy life more?
Both have common situations, but different perspectives, all happening in the same place we each own… the mind.
Now Passion Barre Ambassador B, doesn’t “ignore” the challenges, but rather converts them to yield to a strength or confident expectation (hope).
We don’t belittle the challenges of life, nor are we insensitive to even worse challenges for several others. It’s just that for everyone who desires to, and has overcome indescribable challenges, their victory took place when they renewed their mind. It’s in what they chose to look for, or what they chose to receive and believe.
Our newest guest, Carla, gave some feedback on how a recent shift in perspective enhanced her life. It was spot on, as she shared how although things were going well, it didn’t seem so until she shifted her focus… before which she first had to “switch on the light”. [ We love your feedback, ladies, it’s an honor to hear them… Keep ’em coming! ]
So here are the rules to the change, however. You have to look for the good in it. Typically those who look for trouble find it, right? More of us need to look for goodness and we will find it. The principle is really quite simple. Your chances of finding something specific because you look for it are higher. This is why you have to focus and protect your ability to hope. And where you look for it is where you’ll find yourself. If you’re looking to buy some soap at the store, it’s natural that you’ll eventually end up at the store.
Make life simple, follow the principles.

The journey continues as we inspire and co-brand with the community to blaze the trail of freedom to those in captivity (Spirit, Mind, or Body). The studio, (Passion Barre, Karingah! Boutique Fitness Lounge opened this month of February 2013, and it was quite the experience. So I thought it was about time I poked my head in to say I’m alright and thankful!
Yesterday, I finally had my sudden teary moment as La Shawn led the Barre class in cooling down and the words to her song rang out “God is Here.” I looked around at the beautiful new faces that filled the room and it just hit me: How did this session fill up so quickly? How did we get the honor of serving and leading them through inspiration? It’s all about His glory! As my friend said. “God has His plans and the most important thing is to be a part of it.”

It was an intensely short time getting the space ready and I and several amazing helpful friends and family are still recuperating. We’ve all earned some kind of honorary certificate in painting, flooring and construction. Friends and family far and near offered so much support and words of encouragement that it blew my mind. I will say again, I’m thankful… and inspired!
Karingah!’s first day in Rancho Cucamonga, CA (the Inland Empire) opened with the Passion Barre (Barre Fitness) with some attendance and excitement. The demand for the Barre classes continues to grow and the Karingah! classes as well. Pilates and Zumba stand as runners up. We reiterate the The Fit-for-Free program in all our classes to keep the women and children in captivity on the hearts of our students. Their attendance makes a difference. It fuels us to match their attendance points (freedom points) with money to give to our allies out on the rescue and outreach fields.
If you’re in the Inland Empire, I invite you to come in for a visit, hang around, have a sampling of our Tea Bar and try one of the signature classes. The place is quickly becoming “home” to old and new friends.

An art and fitness synergy… a modern World Fusion dance inspired fitness influenced by Africa and it’s diaspora within the Caribbean, Middle East and Latin America; with a touch of Pilates.
